Human Resource refers to managing of human resource and is an important process in the value chain. Due to changes in PESTEL factors acquiring and retention of skilled or talented personnel is becoming complex than before. The following details the reason for the increase in complexity in managing the human resource at present.
Global Issues in Recruitment
In the recent, more and more employees prefer white collar jobs compared to blue collar jobs, also preferring services industry than manufacturing and labor intensive industries which are the backbone of the society. Therefore, there is an uncertainty in gathering the required skilled personnel for the job regardless of the geographic location (Dessler, 2008) . Also with the implementation of new technology such as industrialization 4.0 there is concerns of downsizing the labor and keeping only the best fit for the job. Also even after recruitment there is concerns of sustaining the acquired talent due to wider opportunities present in the business world today.
Technology and HRM
At present, working at home with the use of internet and remote logins is becoming a norm rather than an anomaly. The traditional employees wanted to earn more money by working hard even by overtime. But now many people prefer to work in houses with flexible working hours (Akter, et al., 2016) . The issue for HR managers and staff in such a scenario is to have a mutual agreement with employer and employee for options that include telecommuting (Mayhew, 2010) . Even though the tracking of human resource is made effective via this, there is a problem with regards to employee motivation and discipline. This in turn would impact the productivity of the said organization.
Talent Management
"According to a survey by Lee Hecht Harrison, more than 60 percent of employers are experiencing intergenerational conflict. However, those very differences can also lead to increased creativity and productivity—and ultimately to business success.” (Mayhew, 2010) . At present the working force is aging, but compared to past times the generational gap in terms of social norms and technological wise of these groups is extremely high, creating a diversified group. Managing these groups from a HR point of view is difficult, especially in terms of ranking their performance which varies from a wide degree respective to another’s specialization.
