Contemporary Issues in Grievance Handling

Image result for contemporary issues in grievanceGrievance is defined as any discontent or dissatisfaction, which may or may not be expressed, and may or may not be valid, but arises out of anything connected with the employee that an employee thinks, believes or even feels is unfair, unjust or inequitable. Due to today’s ever changing PESTLE factors grievances in any industry is common. Given below highlighted is modern day issues arising with grievance handling.

Organizational changes  

Due to the need for organizations to adapt a new strategy in order to stay ahead of competitors with respect to the changes in PESTLE factors, changes within an organization happen on a daily basis. Therefore, an effective change management strategy is required. If the change management strategy is not effective, then employees of the organization may feel left out, or unable to deal with the stress and scope of the change. Thereby resulting in a wider amount of occurrence of grievances throughout the organizational hierarchy. Hence the need for Employee Relations personnel constant monitoring of employees and an additional workload for them.

Economic Factors

The laws pertaining to a particular country, especially with regards to taxation, are varying on a daily basis. Due to governments focusing on preventing depreciation of their respective currency with respect to dollars, the quality of life of its people are changing. Therefore, people tend to require better salaries, increments, and white collar jobs rather than standard blue collar jobs. Also this is further impacted b the rising rates of literacy of people in countries, with more and more people preferring service industry than manufacturing industry. Therefore, even existing people in manufacturing industries may feel inadequacy of their job tasks or privileges.

Dilemma of age groups

At present many organizations have different work age groups employed. Even though the new generation would prefer activation of change especially with regards to technology, older age group employees might feel threatened by them. Therefore, HR managers face a dilemma in balancing the issues generated by these generation gaps.
