Standardization of Training

The biggest issue faced by both large and small corporate environments is to ensure that employees get the same learning outcome from the same learning materials as others and making this  learning process consistent (Andriotis, 2017). Most corporate nowadays focus on external trainers as they seem more reliable and cost effective. Yet there is an issue, on how relevant these training are with respect to the organization they work in, and which is heavily overlooked by a wide array of HR managers. Also impacted to this is the hiring of diverse work groups who have differentiating languages and norms. Hence the concern of HR managers today is how to factor all these concerns in training?

Shortening of Time for Development

With the advent of technology, more and more tools are available for shortening the training and development cycle. For example, video libraries detailing the standard manner in which a work is performed. Therefore, HR personnel are constantly trying to shorten this via implementing several techniques that may be costly and the overall success of the venture which can be questioned (Marketing, 2014).

Aside from this, general issues impacting training and development that have affected in the past and yet not resolved are detailed below.
  • A failure to identify the specific needs of learners and for learners to own their own development needs
  • Objectives set by trainers, rather than the learners
  • Little acceptance by learners of the need to take responsibility for their own development
  • Constraints of time for preparation and participation in learning events
  • A failure to follow through learning beyond an event or course
  • Failing to achieve high value via transfer of the learning
